Chief testifies as police arrest five Klansmen after cross burn

Griffin Georgia chief Leo Blackwell testifies before the House Un American Activities Committee that on April 24 1964 he arrested five Klansmen after a cross burning found an arsenal in their auto plus robes and signs. He named two men from the klavern and three others as suspects from out of town. The group faced disorderly house charges and NaciremaInc was discussed as a Klan offshoot with a Georgia charter read into the record.

Ex-JP Explains Accepting Race Bets in Court

Former Albuquerque justice of the peace Lorenzo C. Duran testified in U S District Court that he collected money from two individuals for horse bets. He is charged with taking bets on horse races without paying federal taxes. Duran named an Internal Revenue Service man Vernon B Pixley and a city policeman as bettors. Both testified they called Duran and placed bets at Ruidoso Downs in July. Judge H Vearle Payne presided. final arguments were expected next.

Luci Johnson Denies Reports Of Romance With Pat Nugent

Luci Johnson, 18, told reporters at Georgetown University she wants privacy about her alleged romance with Pat Nugent, 22, of Waukegan. Resident Here Awarded 7146 in Roswell Court Suit

Raymond Jennings of Roswell was awarded 7146.69 plus court costs in 5th District Court on Monday in a damage suit against Jerry Linton Floyd. Jennings, owner-manager of Scotty's Club, received 1146.69 for medical costs 1000 for loss of work and 5000 for pain and suffering. He alleged injuries occurred last February 14 while trying to stop a fight Floyd was involved in.
