Man who murdered four people dies in New Mexico prison
William Wayne Gilbert, 52, who killed four people in 1980 in New Mexico and later described himself as very, very perverted, died July 30 at the Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Los Lunas from liver illness complications. He killed Barbara McMullen in Albuquerque and Kenn and Noel Johnson at their home, fatally shot his wife, and had a notable escape in 1987 before final years on Death Row, with prison warden Ron Lytle reflecting on their quiet end.
