Simms Seeks Second Term Backed by Catholic Hospitals

A Walker Air Force Base flight line tour and a noon luncheon at the WAFB Officers’ Club are planned, followed by a 3 15 pm address in Theater No 2 on veterans rights and benefits and the VFW Orphans Home. An Ingalls Memorial Home open meeting at 7 pm will close the day. Local officers Lyle Gholson and James C. Palmer accompany Brown, with an open buffet for post members and visitors.

Law Officers To Meet in Artesia

Artesia law enforcement officers will meet November 28 with members of the Walker Air Force Law Enforcement Council and possibly Roswell and Artesia city officials. The location has not yet been decided. They will discuss mutual problems in cases involving military and civilian personnel and learn how the Walker Air Base council operates.

LAS CRUCES delegates at a statewide water conference heard John Clark of New Mexico A&M discuss potential sources including sea water Mississippi River water and sewage reclamation. Dr Buel W Beadle of Southwest Research Institute spoke on evaporation control for reservoirs. Dr Roger B Corbett called water the greatest economic dictator in New Mexico and urged lawmakers to break that dictatorship. Special assistant attorney general Charles B Harris said water is public property subject to appropriation for beneficial use.

Woman pedestrian dies near Gallup amid rising highway toll

State Police report that Mrs. Mary Haskeltsia, 36, of Rehoboth Mission, was struck by a vehicle on U. S. Highway 66 about 22 miles east of Gallup Tuesday night. The driver, Mrs. Ida B. Corbiss, 34, of Gallup, was uninjured. The incident pushes the year’s road fatalities to 315.

The theft occurred Tuesday night with $1,986 in cash stolen and about $10 in change scattered on the floor near the loot.
