Graduation at Military Inst Ends Year
The final event of graduation occurred at 10:30 this morning at the Military Institute in Sea Hal where the seventy nine members of the graduating class received their diplomas. Major Herman L. Baca represented Governor Arthur Seligman who was unable to attend. The program opened with the Star Spangled Banner by the cadet band and an invocation by Rev. Austin D Crile. Colonel W. E. Talbot delivered the commencement address. Cadet First Lieutenant Eugene Livingstone Vickery gave the valedictory. Presentations included promotions and commissions, with certificates delivered to high school graduates.

Liquor Smuggler Killed as Patrols Bar Gun Battle

Posse Hunting Two Murderers Near Spartanburg
Spartanburg May 30 AP Possemen searched for two Negro suspects who killed Miss Thelma Martin and severely wounded Madison Stone her escort. Stone recounted how as they waited in a car on a lonely lane off the Greenville Spartanburg highway the pair forced them into the woods with a gun. Stone was shot in the abdomen and struck on the head by a club while Thelma Martin lay dead in a bushes clump. The Martin girl, 19, was from the Pacolet family and both were students at a local business college.
