Roswell cancer expert debunks Laetrile promise

Dr. Jack Saiki of the University of New Mexico said Laetrile derived from apricot pits clearly has no beneficial effects in cancer treatment. The National Cancer Institute said it may test Laetrile in humans and reopen clinical trials amid public pressure and legalization in several states. Saiki warned all cigarettes relate to higher cancer risk.

South Moluccan hijackers raid Dutch school and train

South Moluccan extremists seized a school and a four car train near Bovensmilde Onnen demanding a jumbo jet to fly them and hostages out of the Netherlands. They fired shots to speed breakfast deliveries while police surrounded both sites. No children were hurt though tensions rose among local residents as a deadline loomed for mediation.

Roswell undergoes a change of ownership as Chew Den at 1401 SE Main St prepares to sell to Allen Garrett of Artesia within the next month. Jack Chew, who has run the Chinese restaurant for 25 years, plans to retire due to ill health and will assist the transition. Garrett has not commented on any menu changes.
