Severe weather and hail hit northern New Mexico and Lamar County
Severe weather swept through northern New Mexico with large hail disrupting I 25 near Las Vegas and prompting road closures. Eastern New Mexico faced a slight risk of storms near Clovis with quarter size hail and 60 mph winds. Central mountains likely to see scattered storms and ongoing thunderstorm activity could spark wildfires amid drought. The Signal Fire in southwestern New Mexico remains 90 percent contained as crews work to finish the blaze started May 11 north of Silver City.
