Lujan Grisham rejects AGs special session ideas
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will not add three public safety proposals from NM Attorney General Raul Torrez to the upcoming legislative session agenda. Susan Grisham said the ground work is already laid for the bills proposed for the special session. NMDOJ communications director Lauren Rodriguez did not respond to requests for reaction. Torrez outlined the three priorities at a Thursday press conference.

Wildfire risk expected to rise across central New Mexico this summer
Forecasters at the National Interagency Fire Center warn wildfire potential will be above normal across much of New Mexico this summer due to ongoing drought and a possible El Nino to La Nina shift. RISD board reviews 2022-23 audit findings and expenses
Roswell Independent School District presented its annual financial audit for the 2022 23 fiscal year at the May 13 board meeting. Carr Riggs and Ingram LLC found the statements presented fairly in all material respects with expenses totaling about 149 million dollars and general revenues from state equalization property taxes and oil revenue noted.

Pregnant Pedestrian Injured in Sunday Roswell Crash
A 19-year-old pregnant woman was struck while crossing North Main Street in Roswell Sunday night. She was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, and doctors stated the unborn baby appeared unharmed. The driver of the truck was not charged or cited.
