Wyoming uranium miners wary of plan to release stockpile
Wyoming congresswoman and Uranium Producers of America oppose Energy Secretary Chu’s determination that releasing and enriching up to 9 200 tons of depleted uranium from a federal stockpile will not harm prices. The plan, endorsed by Senate Minority Leader McConnell, aims to keep the Paducah enrichment facility open and protect jobs, while industry officials warn it could depress prices and threaten projects across several states.
