City planner Ken White backs a city bond measure to fund park improvements across 18 neighborhood parks. The $250000 proposal, if approved, would allocate about $60000 for initial improvements as priorities are set with the Parks and Recreation Commission before City Council final action.
Roswell Independent School District officials say no immediate funds or plans exist for proposed capital projects after a two-mill levy failed by 161 votes. About 48 percent supported the measure. turnout was 20 percent.
The House committee backed a plan to create a Department of Energy advancing President Carter's energy program. Senate debate begins as both chambers move toward passage with civil service integration and a rules review pending. The measure faces easy odds in the Senate.
