Roswell Awards Certificates for Nine Month Adult Education Course
About 75 people will receive certificates Monday after completing a nine month adult basic education program sponsored by the Roswell school system and the state. The ceremony at 7 30 p m will be in the old post office building with Clayton Stallings as speaker on New Frontiers to Adult Education. Stallings directs adult continuing education at Eastern New Mexico University Roswell Campus. The course provides night classes in history government English science mathematics and reading. Over 40 students have earned the equivalent of high school diplomas since it began.

Berkeley Lands Tense Clash Spurs Guard Alert
National Guardsmen stood on alert near a University of California park after a clash between police, hippie squatters, students and others injured about 50. Police used tear gas and birdshot, scenes of overturned cars and rooftop missiles, with 45 arrests. Governor Reagan ordered loitering bans and mobilized troops as fencing began on park land.

Graveside funeral services for Karl L. Neatherlin 89 pioneer rancher and cattle breeder will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Neatherlin Ranch in Roswell with Rev. Ben Sullivan of First Baptist Reserve officiating. The body will be taken to the ranch Sunday morning.
