The Viking Riders II motorcycle club in Newport Rhode Island renames from Ghost Riders and launches a public relations push after a police crackdown. Roswell and Las Cruces men won top offices at the New Mexico Masonic meeting. Roy V. Tyner of Roswell was elected grand high priest of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of New Mexico. Phil Witherspoon of Las Cruces became grand master of the Royal Grand Council and Select Master Masons of New Mexico. Wayne Lampert announced water meter inspections in the Roswell artesian basin, noting about 1,593 meters installed since January. State Police Chief Joe Black moved former Chief John Bradford to command the Albuquerque district. Capt Hoover Wimberly reassigned to Santa Fe to oversee in-security work.

Stabbing Incident Investigated At Local Service Station

James R. Prince a member of the 4260th Air Base Sqdn Walk er Air Force Base walked into a Texaco station on West Second and Sycamore at 1 40 a m today bleeding and said he had been stabbed. He reported the attack occurred at 316 S Sequoia and was treated at Walker Air Force Base. Police pursued the case with no arrests yet.

Webb Jails Two Fines Three After First Day on Bench

Municipal Judge James Webb jailed two men for 30 days and fined three underage individuals 50 dollars each on illegal possession of alcohol charges. The defendants named were Dixie D. Eshleman John Wesley Edwards and Jackie Taylor Cornelison. Pete L. Mendosa and David Cleo Griggs received 30 day sentences for drunken in public charges.
