Former president Herbert Hoover denounces the NRA as a monotony weapon that retards recovery. He calls for abolishing the NRA and codes, arguing they impose anti competition, burden small businesses, and threaten local communities. Hoover likens the scheme to monopolistic control and bureaucratic intimidation.
London May 16 Lloyd Viscount Cecil of Chelwood condemned Mussolini's Ethiopian stance, urging Italy to respect League of Nations law and Part five of Versailles while condemning unilateral breaches. He warned that equal sanction must apply to all treaty parts, and noted Rome's adherence to the Stresa pledge.
Atlanta reports unofficial returns from 158 Georgia counties show repeal leading by 4,384 votes after additional tallies. Silver City will host graduation May 28 with four college graduates and 52 high school seniors receiving diplomas. Nine students will complete work in the elementary training school. H.R. Rodgers state superintendent will deliver the commencement address and Dr. Ross R. Calvin will give the baccalaureate sermon.

Santa Fe reports State Comptroller Juan N Warned from Tierra Amarilla an audit of Rio Arriba county books notes roads are in fair condition amid heavy rain and floods. Ranges are fine but area has had significant rain impacts.
