Local highway patching on U.S. 70 praised

Leland Stone praised the State Highway Department for minimal travel disruption and a vastly improved U.S. 70 west of Riverside as 15 miles were patched with new hot mix and laydown machines. The project finished yesterday before moving to Apache Summit and Dark Canyon for similar work.

Dodd suffers mild heart attack. remains hospitalized

Doctors said Sen Thomas J Dodd collapsed at a dinner from a mild heart attack and will be hospitalized for an indefinite period. A spokesman confirmed the diagnosis and noted the condition prompted the hospital stay.

Man Wanted in Slayings Found Dead Near Home

FBI said Coleman G Gish, 45, sought for the slayings of three Veterans Hospital officials, was found dead near his Bureau County hometown, apparently a suicide after a stolen car was abandoned. Four victims were shot, one wounded. details include hospital chaplain Gerhard Leverenz dying later, director Roger Arnold surviving, and others involved.
