Escape attempt at Ft Hayes guard house ends with two youths
In Columbus Ohio a 17 year old prisoner from Brighton named Martin R Youngless tried to squeeze through pried apart guard house bars at Ft Hayes yesterday but only his head and shoulders passed before he was helped back in. Fellow inmate Albert D Saltsman from Leavittsburg also escaped through the window but was recaptured an hour later. Both youths were jailed on AWOL charges.

Firefighters Contain Jemez Forest Blaze Near La Cuerva
A forest fire near Jemez Springs New Mexico burned about 150 acres of dry timber before emergency squads from Jemez and Zia pueblos and volunteers from Los Alamos and surrounding areas brought it under control. The blaze, two miles west of La Cuerva on Fenton Hill, was blamed on a short circuit in power lines.
