In Panmunjom the Communists rejected the Allied eight point plan for releasing prisoners and tore down tents used for exchanges signaling no surrender on the armistice. General Harrison accused Reds of cross border prisoner-taking and forced labor. The Allied counteroffer would free 34 000 North Korean non repatriates and place 14 500 Chinese in a five nation temporary custody. The Reds favored a post armistice conference to decide fates. The session ran one hour 34 minutes with bitter charges and denials.
Local National Guard units join an Armed Forces Day demonstration at WAFB on Sunday with gunnery training radar operation and a 120th AAA gun crew showing a 90 millimeter gun a radar hookup and a 50 caliber machine gun mount. About 10 officers and 125 guardsmen are expected to participate and a full scale field kitchen will be shown.
WINDOW ROCK Arizona Navajo Indians are asked to raise a 350 man company for Marine Corps communications work. The Navajo Tribal Council approved aiding recruitment for the unit to be sworn in around July 8.
A federal jury convicts Maron Portle of Gallup on selling liquor to Indians and another jury finds Millard Grant Dunman guilty of driving a stolen truck from Hot Springs Arkansas to Gallup. Sentencing for both is scheduled for Friday.

The July draft call stands at 23,000, the lowest since last June's 10,000. Since selective service resumed in mid-1950, 1,469,430 men were drafted or earmarked for induction, with all but 81,430 going to the Army as Marines took 10 months. The Defense Department ties the cut to a smaller military budget for the new fiscal year starting July 1.
