Bombers Sink Amboina Ship and Hit Rabaul Bases

Allied air forces last night sank a 3,000-ton Japanese vessel at Amboina and damaged two more ships in the same action. Other raids on Rabaul plastered the harbor, destroyed 15 enemy bombers on the airdrome, as MacArthur warns that Coral Sea battles persist and broader strikes on northwest and northeast Japanese bases are needed to avert invasion.

Seven hundred dollars is still needed to reach the goal of 3800 in the USC drive in Chaves county. Lake Arthur is the only community outside Roswell reporting so far, with more to come. County chairman Will Lawrence believes the goal will be reached and asks everyone to contribute.
