Taylor formerly of this city and former Joyce Pruit advertising manager has returned to Sherman Texas after winning one of ten free trips to the West Indies through the National Magazine of Boston. The chaperoned group held a Boston house warming on April 28. Dr Phillips moved his office to the rear of Payton's drug store with Dr Parkhurst joining him.
Report from Artesia says a massive new well one and a half miles east of the city has been tapped this morning. Travelers arriving by the morning train brought startling news of the enormous discovery and described the geyser-like gushers seen at the site.
J C Hale struck a notable artesian flow at his own well and water rose nine feet above the casing, two feet higher than the Cecil well near Artesia, once touted as the world’s largest. The well reaches 780 feet depth with a six inch casing. Hale owns 1700 acres nearby and could gain major wealth if confirmed.
Nashville crowds include thousands arriving for the forty-ninth annual session. Visitors estimated around three thousand with more en route. The convention opens tomorrow and runs through mid next week in the city.

Clinton Lightfoot of Big Springs Texas and Ed Haskins of this city were driving a two horse team when a thunderstorm struck six miles southwest. The lightning killed the horses instantly while the men were severely shocked. Lightfoot suffered a red zigzag stripe and blistered feet, was unconscious briefly, and Hawkins was dazed but uninjured aside from shock.
The annual meeting begun in Little Rock, Arkansas, is well attended by leading state newspaper men. Sessions will run several days with papers and addresses on every branch of newspaper making.
