A two year audit reveals New Mexico Medicaid overpaid at least 5 million dollars through June 30 last year due to data management gaps. The audit cites inconsistent encounter counting among plans and delays in confirming Medicare eligibility, costing taxpayer funds.
Eddy County plans to sue itself over whether Commissioner Glenn Collier, based in Artesia, is owed mileage for attending Carlsbad meetings. An assistant attorney general said such reimbursements may be limited to out of county meetings, not regular commutes, prompting the dispute.
Rebecca Watson, assistant secretary of the Interior, told an oil and gas conference in Farmington that the fight over drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is not finished. She urged greater public understanding of the link between domestic drilling and oil imports and pressed for more U.S. drilling to cut Middle East dependence.
