Pilot M L Perry killed in CAP plane crash over Rio Grande

Civil Air Patrol Maj M L Perry died when his single engine trainer struck two power lines near the Rio Bravo bridge in Albuquerque while scanning the Rio Grande for a missing boy. Perry's brother Sterling Olsen, 11, jumped into the river to search. Col Harry Crosby noted observers accompany search flights. Sheriff Joe Wilson said an observer had been aboard but was removed during refueling.
