Locust fire threatens Whiteriver Arizona homes
Crews say they are gaining the upper hand on a wind driven wildfire in Whiteriver. The Locust fire is 30 percent contained after burning about 50 acres on Friday. Three subdivisions with roughly 40 homes were evacuated as a precaution. Authorities suspect human causes and federal investigators are looking into it. Power has been shut off to Whiteriver over electrical line concerns. Firefighters from Pinetop and Lakeside along with a hot shot crew and two heavy air tankers are assisting to protect structures.
