Inmate's Confession Could Stretch New Mexico Sentence
Blaine Norman Riddal also known as Charles Edwin Nelson, 41, was charged in Chaves County District Court under the habitual criminal act after sending a letter to Asst. Dist. Atty. Jay F. Rosenthal admitting to a Feb. 10 attempted robbery at Wagon Wheel Saloon in Roswell. He faces a life term if convicted as a repeat offender. prior record shows seven convictions and a life sentence. Rosenthal filed the charge a day after Riddal pleaded guilty to the Roswell saloon robbery. Riddal was jailed on an auto theft case at the time of writing the letter.
