Fifteen month old Diane Radecki was run over by her father's car in Gansevoort N Y. She suffered minor bruises and abrasions but the incident occurred as the father Stanley backed the vehicle from the garage. The child's body sank into soft earth as a wheel passed over her hip.
The Labor Department issued orders easing housing standards for Mexican farm workers. It creates two classifications for labor camps and smaller employer premises, relaxes ceiling height rules, clarifies bedding terms, and stresses worker responsibility for maintaining clean and sanitary housing.
Theft of a Champion dark blue eight and a half horsepower motor from a garage Tuesday night. A 25 horsepower motor untouched. Earnest, 35, Oklahoma native, married with one son, lives on 319 E Church St. Bennett, Colorado-educated, six years in Roswell schools, married with two children, resides 1600 S Richardson Ave.
Senate investigators probe Teamster President Dave Beck over alleged $320000 misappropriation and $200000 repayment plan. Beck invokes the Fifth Amendment amid contempt claims as McClellan schedules a two week recess and Beck plans to testify in court.
Ora Le Linville and his brother Jerry, ages 14 and 13, were found by police in a creek bank cave near Southeast High School after neighbors reported seeing them during school hours. They claimed to have spent six months exploring and watching the sky before being enrolled in school.
Rex Pollock of Page Idaho says Western delegates faced abuse intimidation and threats of violence while attempting floor nominations at the International Union of Mine Mill and Smelter Workers convention held last week in St Paul Minnesota He says three Western delegates including himself persisted to nominate two candidates opposing two incumbents while 14 Mine Mill officers face federal indictments for alleged false affidavits and conspiracy to defraud the government Pollock notes prior pressure and intimidation including telephone threats and men warning they would destroy them He seeks to run candidates aligned with God fearing men for union posts.
Cairo AP Nasser aide Wing Cmdr Ali Sabry said Egypt will allow no foreign supervision over the Suez Canal and that tolls will fund development. He noted control rests with the Egyptian canal authority and that British and French ships may pass under Egyptian rules with prepayment of tolls. He cited Hammarskjold's visit as backing Egypt’s stance.

A Board of Education committee including Jim Marks Coy Burk Frank Standhardt and H F Allred will work with officials on an agreement.
Ingrid Bergman won her second Oscar for Anastasia in Paris where she spoke by telephone to Cary Grant accepting the award in Hollywood. Yul Brynner took best actor for The King and I as Around the World in 30 Days was named best picture. Dorothy Malone and Anthony Quinn won supporting honors.
Western governments face difficulty turning the Suez Canal into a nonessential route as Egyptian President Nasser holds control. Proposals include oil pipelines via Turkey, a Jordanian gulf route, and larger tankers sailing around Africa. Even with alternatives, Middle East oil demand and canal capacity suggest Suez remains busy for decades.
Jim Owens Sears store manager spoke at the Roswell Optimist Club noon meeting. He described Sears Roebuck and Co as the world’s largest retail outlet and projected $5 billion in annual business by 1960. He said Sears emphasizes community involvement and employee benefits including a profit sharing plan. Election of club officers is set for April 10.
In Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Reynolds recovered their missing two car garage. Reynolds said the garage was reported stolen Tuesday. Andrew Todd, the Reynolds’ brother in law, claimed he could claim the garage if he paid the moving bill.
Sixteen trucking firms from seven states plead not guilty in U S District Court to charges of fixing interstate rates for household goods shipments to U S military personnel. Trial is set for June 17 in Santa Fe. Albuquerque defendants include ABC Bonded Warehouses Bekins Van Storage Benton Van Storage Dalton Minister Storage Southwest Moving Storage. Albuquerque individuals named are George H Buergi Pines Dunn Carlos Hogue George R Kilgore and J Lawrence Milne.
