Veterans Cemetery progress faces mayoral discouragements
A local note states the mayor's office has discouraged land donors and volunteers for a veterans cemetery project. It cites hostile comments toward donors Bert Eldridge and Harry McGraw, reports of planning cost concerns, and a shift toward local firms. Fundraising by volunteers continues with private sponsors and a memorial brick idea under review. Contact Valley Bank of Commerce at 575-623-2265 to donate.
