Lujan Grisham signals possible special session on youth crime

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Lt. Gov. Howie Morales indicated lawmakers may return to Santa Fe for a special session on juvenile crime and public safety after a 60 day legislative session ended without sufficient action. Suspect charged in 2019 Roswell homicide details emerge

Roswell police charged Matthew S. Trujillo, 36, with first degree murder tampering with evidence and firearm counts for a Oct. 13, 2019, shooting that killed Stefan Doram, who was a passenger in a vehicle at Walker Boulevard and Eyman Street. Doram died of multiple gunshot wounds after a confrontation allegedly begun during a dispute possibly over drugs. A woman in the vehicle fled unharmed.

Roswell Committee backs five year Paladin drone deal

Roswell Police and Fire departments seek additional drones to aid life threatening and emergency responses. Lt. Michael Fry says two drones and a roof dock exist with Paladin Drones of Houston proposed for a five year contract. The Public Safety Committee endorsed expanding drone use citywide.

Waiver Granted for Flood Damaged Library Items

Roswell city council approved waiving replacement fees for flood damaged books and media at the Roswell Public Library. The measure, per City Resolution 23-11, follows a 2023 move to waive late fees. Library director Enid Costley called the exception a minor expense and a kindness, estimating costs at about 1441 dollars as flood-damaged items were returned through January 31.
