Police Plan Extra Check On Traffic

Acting chief James P. Lannom announced that starting April 1 the department will resume a night motorcycle patrol to check traffic from 4 p.m. to midnight. Two patrolmen will begin, rising to four or five later, focusing on speeders and aiming to reduce city accidents noted as having rebounded in 1963 to levels unseen since 1957.

Accident Report From West 17th Street and Missouri Avenue

A Tuesday evening crash at the 400 block of West 17th Street at 10:50 p.m. involved drivers Leonard P. Brom bahow of 415 West 17th and Gernetta F. Cheney of 1405 Highland Road. Earlier at 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and 18th Street, Every Underwood of 3007 Delicado Avenue collided with Raht and Austin Lindsey of 1101 North Kansas.

Three Roswell Teens Face Car Theft Charges

Three Terrill Texas youths, two boys and a girl, were arrested driving a stolen car from Roswell. The car was reported stolen from Jackie Salsman in Roswell, with other thefts linked to John Looney and Realty Investment Co. officers investigate an armed robbery at Longmeir Chevron. A separate report notes a lost billfold with immigration papers.

Park Agency To Develop Ute Project

Santa Rosa AP The State Park and Recreation Commission will assume recreational jurisdiction at Ute Reservoir and take over boat licensing. The State Game Commission will keep a $20,000 annual payment and maintain a 50 000 acre foot minimum pool with ISC. The Game Department will retain a $1 annual fishing fee.

Speed Reading Classes Slated at Roswell Community College

Roswell Community College offers two six week speed reading non credit courses starting this week. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings with two time options. Registration at Roswell High School room 308 during the second class meeting. Course fee is 15 dollars.

Alamogordo voters approved a 1.1 million bond issue by 993 to 287 for school projects. Truth or Consequences voters backed 1,073 to 393 for 686 thousand to fund a new high school and land.
