Over Fifty Missing in Brockton Shoe Factory Disaster

In Brockton Massachusetts workers search all night for bodies after the shoe factory blast. The toll reaches 454 recovered, with 260 of those at work identified and between 50 and 100 still missing. Engineer David W. Rockall is believed dead in the boiler pit. Joseph Jones survived the blast but wandered to another plant before realizing the loss.

A westbound Rocky Mountain Limited wrecked near Homestead Iowa this morning. Six people were injured, none fatally. Officials say rails were removed and a car plunged forty five feet into a ditch. Two workers from Denver and Colorado Springs among the injured. Officials doubt train robbers but say wrecking was malicious and premeditated. The rails at the site were removed and re spiked.

Netherlands Demands Arbitration Over Dutch Sailors Jailed

In Willemstead on March 21 Venezuelan authorities received a note from U S Minister Bowen about arbitration on pending issues. The Netherlands reports five Dutch sailors have been illegally imprisoned for five months and may prompt coercive measures if not released. France denies sending warships to Venezuela.

A state bribery investigation in Denver reports the committee will exonerate General Manager J. M. Herbert of the Colorado and Southern and Cripple Creek postmaster Dan Sullivan. No recommendation on Senator Morgan. Senator Ballinger plans to pursue Morgan's expulsion proceedings.

Roswell Roswell Baseball Team Builds Local Hopeful Crew

The Roswell Commercial Club hosts social events as the town forms its own first class baseball squad. Bidwell will pitch for Roswell. Last season the team won 3 to 2 against Canyon City and lost 3 to 2 to Carlsbad, showing strong material. About four former players return with eleven new recruits. A practice game with the Chihuahua team is slated for Sunday at 2 PM on South Hill.

R L Miller landlord of El Capitan hotel and his family escaped serious harm when their buggy overturned after hitting a gravel pile on Fifth Street. Mr and Mrs Miller and three children were thrown out but were saved by Miller who steadied the horse. Arbor Day is noted for Thursday March 23.

Eight Hour Bill Signed in Colorado by Governor McDonald

Governor McDonald signs the eight hour bill in Denver on March 21, though labor unions deem the measure unsatisfactory. Company B is scheduled to drill tonight at eight by order of Captain Calfee.
