New Mexico ban on red light cameras and vans approved
The New Mexico State Transportation Commission voted to ban red light cameras and mobile enforcement vans on state and federal roads under its jurisdiction. Cities have 60 days to remove existing cameras. The move follows skepticism about safety benefits and a 2009 state standardizing measure sharing fines with the state. The governor supported the action to ensure fair treatment across communities.
