A Liberian supertanker Canyon-61,263 tons ran aground off Land's End England. Heavy seas tore the bow against rocks sending an eight mile oil slick toward west coast beaches as salvage attempts continued.
The New Mexico Military Institute Corps of Cadets plan three days of activities over Easter weekend with musical The Fantasticks and events for cadets and families. Highlights include two showings of The Fantasticks, a Friday and Saturday parade, open house, receptions, barbecue, dance, drill exhibition, and Easter Chapel Service, culminating in a return to normal schedule the following Sunday. Also noted is Rosemary Dunaway of Little Rock named America's 1967 Junior Miss, with top runners-up from Minnesota Texas Hawaii Indiana.
President Johnson flew to Guam for an 18 hour, 8000 mile trip to discuss Vietnam and the civilian effort there. He spoke at a governors dinner before departure and will meet with U.S. and South Vietnamese leaders to review the non military campaign and civilian governance.

Alan Sims age 12 and his Shetland pony Calhoon collect more than 2000 bottles along roads north of Roswell as part of a 4-H project. The Berrendo Elementary sixth grader plans to cash in the bottles for about $20 and has written to Gov. Cargo urging enforcement of anti litter laws.
The New Mexico House recessed Saturday night and stalled by 9:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday while the Senate planned a similar pause. Key items remained: the general appropriations bill for 1967-68, a liquor sale ban, department split plans, and mandatory county participation in the statewide property reappraisal program.
A 70 year old Silver City woman Mary F Hooper was taken to Ruidoso Hondo Valley General Hospital with lacerations and abrasions after entering Sudderth Drive from NM 37 and nearly colliding with Minnie Draper 46 of Hobbs in a two car crash. Draper escaped injury and damages were about 700 dollars to her car and 300 dollars to Hooper s car.
New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison, after a courtroom victory for Clay Shaw, says there is no doubt more arrests will come in the Kennedy assassination inquiry. He cautions the case remains intricate and actions will unfold over time as investigations proceed.
