New York March 18 The suspension of Daniel J Sully & Co was announced and the dealings of Daniel J Sully were noted for handling dependable merchandise and the newest styles Women praised millinery hats opened in the city and Garner buyer for the store was named as a top west buyer The Democratic city convention will meet tonight at the court house to finalize the city ticket and delegates lists were shown The cotton market has been volatile with a long price decline and Sully locked himself in his office amid suspicions of liabilities
A Dunkard committee that visited recently reports the chosen site for a new colony near the city is favorable. Immigration of Dunkard families will begin soon, with four members purchasing property nearby. On departure they visited the First National Bank and met cashier E A Cahoon.

Manila on March 19 reports that on March 7 a 450 strong force led by General Leonard Wood attacked Datto Ali’s fort in Mindanao. The defenders’ works were destroyed, Ali and followers captured, and Moros fled with about 2000 losses. Twenty four cannons and many lantacas seized. Americans suffered no casualties.
Roswell plans a meat packing plant after Ice Company completes a new building about May 1. It will aim to process hogs from the Pecos Valley, a development the town welcomes. In New York, March 19, the cotton exchange announced the suspension of J H Garrison. The failure is deemed minor and the secretary expects a temporary situation with a possible resume soon.
The Joyce Pruit Co store hosted a highly successful spring millinery opening on Tuesday with hundreds of women viewing new hat designs from world fashion centers. Miss Nel Coffy, the new milliner, presided gracefully and received praise. American beauty roses and carnations were given to attendees. Also reported, Ethel Lee is wanted in Carlsbad on a theft charge and was taken to Eddy county jail by Sheriff Cicero Stewart. P F McCanna of Albuquerque, in Roswell on business, departed for southern points after settling a fire loss claim for D W Scotts store with an amicable settlement.
Miss Margaret Anderson arrived last evening to stay with Mrs. James X. Y. Sutherland for a few weeks. She brings souvenirs from Rocky Ford Colorado and Ros city. Her father is mentioned in postcards from Cleveland Ohio. In Mar 19 report from Cleveland, Wild disorder marred the opening of the 26th district convention as factions led to a clash over nominations for presiding officer. A Filipino faction assaulted Charles Leach. a hand to hand fight ensued before order was restored. Both sides nominated separate committees and tickets.
Albert Ferguson, a one man hack driver, was fatally shot by four men who lured him to the city outskirts. The quartet escaped. In another incident Andrew Myers, a non union hack driver, was badly beaten by union men. No arrests reported.
Dr Beaumont will be in the city tomorrow with those unserved urged to call at the Grand Central. H A Jenkins of Mansfield Louisiana is in town prospecting and may settle here. George Nickles his wife and seven children arrived from La Junta Colorado and plan to make their home here. Two more children arrived yesterday evening with them.
