Ex-reporter sought in Sunland Park extortion case
An arrest warrant was issued for Jose Pepe Reyes a former El Diario journalist in a Sunland Park extortion case linked to mayoral race threats. Reyes allegedly filmed a topless lap dance of Gerardo Hernandez to pressure him out of the election and faces extortion and conspiracy charges. Hernandez lost the March 6 vote. Sunland Park officials Daniel Salinas and Jaime Aguilera, later indicted, deny wrongdoing. Salinas seeks time to be sworn in under release conditions.
