Andy Popejoy age 12 of 202 Washington Ave was treated and released from Memorial Osteopathic Hospital after a bicycle accident at Second Street and Washington Ave. He suffered facial bruises and lacerations to hands and arms when the front wheel came off and he fell on the pavement.
City police investigate three Roswell church break-ins with office entries and sacked rooms. Rev Clyde Spain of Tabernacle Baptist reports a man fled after wielding a butcher knife. Rev W S Boyett cites a locked door breach. Rev R A Long notes about $100 missing from a filing cabinet at Calvary Baptist.
Jean Barton of Mirador Apartments 700 N Missouri told police Saturday her car was stolen from its parking place with keys left in the ignition. J A Burchell of 300 E Chisum reported Friday his car was stolen from in front of his residence containing clothing and tools.
Ralph Brown and Frank Burris were named by the Lincoln County Board of Trustees as budget commissioners for the 1964-65 period. The budget will be submitted and studied on March 31 in Carrizozo by state school finance officers, with sessions in Hondo Ruidoso Capitan Carrizozo and Corona. Superintendent George P. White of Ruidoso schools hopes the Ruidoso school board attends.
Mrs. Wynema Tully, president of the Ruidoso school board, will join a panel on School Board Superintendent Relations on March 21 at the University of New Mexico. The discussion occurs during the Seventh Annual Conference of New Mexico School Boards Association and the New Mexico School Administrators Association. The event spans Friday and Saturday. Census data show 1963 school enrollment high among 7 to 13 year olds and 93 percent of 14 to 17 year olds.
An additional two large conventions are planned in Ruidoso during 1964, adding to about 25 conventions already scheduled. City officials and Valley Chamber of Commerce manager Bob Hondo outlined the plans at a meeting, highlighting economic benefits for local businesses and tourism.
The Population Reference Bureau reports that three of five family heads surveyed have not completed high school, highlighting education gaps among households.

The statewide gathering will run Sept. 13 to 15 at Ruidoso Downs for the final racing weekend. About 300 people are expected. A regional Kiwanis International conference is set for Aug 1 and 2 at the Chaparral Hotel in Ruidoso Downs with about 150 attendees.
