Tornado Season Warnings Discussed By Weather Service
Gary Grace of the National Weather Service in Albuquerque warned at a Roswell City Hall seminar that eastern New Mexico faces higher tornado danger in April through June. He described mini, medium and maxi tornadoes, noting maxis reach up to 400 feet wide and stay on the ground longer, aiding predictions. He cautioned that inner vortices can cause severe damage even if surrounding structures appear intact.
