King Denies Intent to Defy Court Order in Selma March

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr testified before U.S. District Judge Frank M. Johnson Jr about leading a 2,500-person march from a Selma church to meet state troopers after a government spokesman said the march should be allowed. The judge rejected a contempt motion against King and King described talks with LeRoy Collins about avoiding brutality.

U S Air Strike Destroys Barracks in North Viet Nam

Defense officials report reconnaissance photos show a barracks area at Xom Bang near North Viet Nam obliterated by a U S Air Force strike on March 1. A U S Marine Corps helicopter crashed and burned thirty miles south of Da Nang injuring four crew members. It is believed Viet Cong gunfire brought down the craft though details remain sparse.

Fourth man arrested in Boston minister beating case

SELMA Alabama AP A fourth white man was arrested today and charged with assault with intent to murder in the clubbing attack on a Boston minister here Tuesday night. Three men were arrested Wednesday. Surrendering to police at City Hall was Odel Hoggle 30 an auto mechanic and brother of one of the men taken into custody earlier.
