The Military Order of the Purple Heart will retire old American flags at 10 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Hall. Drop-off tattered flags at Firestation 1 through Friday. For details call Joe Trujillo at 623-2100 or 317-3949.
The Community Advisory Council of Eastern New Mexico University Roswell will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the campus union building multipurpose room. The CAC meets monthly during the academic year. For information contact Donna Gutierrez at 624 7403.
A dense schedule lists morning to evening gatherings across Roswell including the Sunrise Optimist Club at Sally Port Inn and Roswell Rotary at Roswell Country Club. Other events feature Roswell Women’s Community Bible Study, Noonday Toastmasters, Alcoholics Anonymous groups, a Spanish speaking support group, and various hobby and sporting clubs at local venues.
Starry Night Party will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in Lincoln at the Ellis Store Country Inn along U.S. Highway 380. Astronomers from NMSA will present a slide show and discuss the August meteor shower. For information call 1-800-653-6460.
