Emma Goldman, famed anarchist, spent a day in Chicago avoiding police. She asserted U.S. citizenship and challenged deportation laws, planning a meeting but unable to secure a hall as owners faced license revocation if she spoke.
Elwood T Hance 56 former Detroit postmaster and first vice president of Union Trust shot and killed himself early this morning amid reported financial troubles. Friends say he had been greatly depressed. The incident occurred in Detroit Michigan.
The American car leaves Columbus Nebraska for the New York to Paris race and enters sandy, improving roads as rain moderates mud. The Italian car starts from Denison Iowa on the central right of way while a cold wind dries the mud. Kansas City market reports cattle and sheep receipts with steady to firm prices. Ordinance 131 bans hitching horses or other vehicles on Third Street between Main and Pecos in Roswell. The ordinance remains in force while Fire Department stables front Pecos Avenue and takes effect five days after publication. City officials certify the ordinance and publish a local weather report with a forecast for Roswell.
A serious morning fire at Noda ega brewing town near Tokio destroyed about four hundred of one thousand houses. The loss is estimated at 2.5 million dollars.
