Geronimo blocks MRS vote at Mescalero Apache church

Mescalero Apache descendant Geronimo interrupted a Friday event at St. Joseph's Church claiming proof of a $300,000 payoff to tribal leaders to build a Monitored Retrievable Storage facility on the reservation. He waved an unloaded handgun, warned of land desecration, and said he would seek tribal court injunctions while urging Chino and Peso to resign. The tribe prepares for a second vote on the MRS project after a January 31 defeat and a petition drive that gathered 700 signatures.

Graffiti plague hits Roswell area across cities
