Two Tallmadge & Tallmadge cars brought fifty men and one woman from Michigan Wisconsin and Iowa to the Valley seeking land and families. The party toured farms and ranches checking prospects while more cars had gone south to inspect opportunities.
Lima Peru March 5 a strong earthquake left scarcely any house intact and the cathedral seriously damaged one person was killed in Lima while Chorilles reports greater destruction there than in the capital the quake was felt across Peru and caused wide property losses
Two Mexicans charged with stealing fourteen chickens from Causey were discharged after a hearing before Justice Peacock. Charley Johnson, a local negro, was bound over to the grand jury on the theft charge. Johnson said he bought the chickens from the Mexicans for 1.50 dollars at midnight. one suspects an alibi, the other was drunk. Bond set at 250 dollars. Johnson released pending grand jury action.
