Washington March 2 Edward C Burke nominated postmaster at Santa Fe by the President. The notice mentions Burke as the Santa Fe postmaster designate, while other items include a rental ad for a good barn at 902 North Main.
Washington March 2 The Rockefeller Foundation is incorporated in a Senate bill to provide a method for John D Rockefeller to dispose of his wealth in a manner beneficial to mankind The bill was introduced by Senator Gallinger The foundation is organized on lines similar to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching The purpose is to create a charitable endowment though details are incomplete

The regular city council meeting presided by Mayor Richardson approved amended sidewalk ordinances, authorized tree planting of 1 000 mountain cottonwood trees to be distributed at two for every 25 feet frontage, and extended bids for a price. El Paso February 26 Supervising Engineer W M Reed reports from Socorro at the Appraisement Commission hearing in United States vs Victoria Land and Cattle Co. to condemn 35000 acres for the Kisphant Butte dam. The government offered 65000 for land while the company sought 1725960 including 1,000,000 for a strip 1200 by 100 feet. The commission will decide and, if price is fair, the government will deposit funds and begin rush work on the 7,090,000 project.
