New Mexico lagging peers in 2011 income growth
The 2011 report shows New Mexico GDP grew 0.2 percent, ranking 41st nationally and far behind peers Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma. Per capita income averaged 34,575 dollars, 43rd nationally, with McKinley and Bernalillo counties among the low earners. County gaps and slow growth hint at a sluggish 2012, despite retailer expansions.
