Roswell names Teague police chief amid approvals

Roswell acting police chief Carroll Teague was officially named police chief by Mayor L C Stiles at the Roswell Police Station. The City Council Police Committee will present the appointment for full council confirmation on July 11. Teague 20 year veteran will appoint a deputy chief and lead a 82 member department.

Import fee on crude oil may barely cut U.S. imports

A Congressional Budget Office report obtained by The New York Times says a crude oil import fee would reduce imports by about 3.5 percent by 1985. The United States now imports roughly 43 percent of its oil, rising to about 50 percent by the mid-1980s, with only minor effects on the U.S. balance of payments.
