Roswell area seeks state aid to curb crime and boost economy
Chaves County officials and Sheriff Mike Herrington warn that border policy changes raise illegal immigration and drug trafficking, with seven migrants tied to a trafficking case found near Roswell. They urge state action including funding for economic development and a study to diversify away from federal money and oil. A Roswell EDC funding dispute and a search for a new president are noted as part of local efforts.
