In Beverly Hills a test bill seeks elimination of tax exempt bonds. It argues current law lets a person earn a million dollars from such bonds without paying any tax, a practice deemed unfair. Supporters say taxing bonds would curb excessive bond sales by towns states and the government.
In New Mexico and Nevada today searchers reported no results for four missing Illinois tourists. Governor Clyde Tingley pledged renewed effort, with National Guardsmen in east from Gallup and state police near Springerville Socorro. A 17 year old Nevada boy was released after police could not identify him as the hitchhiker sought.
Olympia June 26 AP Mrs Margaret Thuling Waleys own story of the Weyerhaeuser kidnaping says she never saw the nine year old victim and that she is eager to testify at her July 5 Tacoma trial. Her attorney John F Dore says Harmon Waley and Mahan planned the abduction and that she lied on the car floor during the incident.
New Mexico faces a relief funding gap as direct state relief for unemployables after July 1 may fall short. About 10,000 unemployables require care. current revenue from liquor stamps and a franchise tax yields roughly $500,000, insufficient for $4 per month per person. A July 1 transfer shifts property and staff to a federal managed resettlement and works progress system, with about 36,000 on relief and 10,000 nonworkers remaining for direct aid.
Roswell Chamber of Commerce merchants committee outlines a goodwill bus tour to Carrizozo and back via Ruidoso with stops at Ficadho Tinnie Hondo Lincoln Fort Stanton Capitan Carrizozo Ruidoso Hollywood and San Patrico. The trip aims for July 17 with Paul Wilmot Dick Davis and A F Madison arranging visits and the Roswell school band to accompany.
Lubbock county officers plan to bring W. E. Doupe from Roosevelt Beach Oregon to Texas on murder charges stemming from the 1932 Tharp case. If he waives extradition, the sheriff will depart at once. otherwise Gov Allred may be asked to compel return. Doupe was part of a jail escape a year earlier and also linked to Colorado post office robbery and Gunnison burglaries.
Colorado Springs Colorado June 26 AP Delegates to the six day Northern Baptist national convention scattered to their homes in 34 states and several foreign countries buoyed by harmony and overcoming disputed issues including the Christian Social Action Commission report and consolidation of mission activities. At the final session the 1936 convention president Dr J H Franklin was inducted, succeeding Dr Avery A Shaw president of Denison University Granville Ohio.
Harold Jene Cox three died yesterday at age three after a two week illness. He is survived by his parents Claude and Mrs. Cox a sister Evelyn ten and grandmother Mrs N B Cox who were with him. Funeral services were at Ballard Chapel at two o'clock with Rev Julian Atwood of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed at South Park.

He noted over 1200 Roswell ceremonies in his tally. He began his career in Ferry Missouri in 1889 and now serves as Probate Judge of Chaves County.
The Roswell Chamber of Commerce announces U S 70 has been officially extended to the west coast via a Roswell supported path. The route now connects Roswell to Los Angeles through Phoenix and other hubs, with completion extending east to Hot Springs Arkansas and beyond. The change removes U S 380 at Hondo, impacting Capitan and Carrizozo.
Paris June 26 AP Didier Poulain sports writer for Auto called Jean Borotra "Bounding Basque" of French tennis fame to clash on the field of honor today in Paris Poulain issued the call to arms to Paris favorite tennis player.
H H Lewis reports about 25 Roswell VFW members will attend the state convention in Clovis Thursday through Saturday. Activities include a free swim, Friday sessions with mayor’s address, committee reports, a grand parade, officer elections, degree work, and dances during the weekend.
Edinburgh June 26 AP five more anti Catholics fined 10 pounds each for disturbances last night linked to Roman Catholic Eucharistic celebrations. Sheriff warned such behavior dangerous to the public and that repeats would not escape fines. Seven others were fined yesterday for similar offenses.
President Roosevelt said he favors enacting a broader wealth tax this session but not as part of the emergency nuisance tax bill. The House Ways and Means Committee moved to originate a separate bill to advance wealth redistribution, while Senate delays and drafting issues held up schedules for the levies and rate plans.
Washington reports President Roosevelt established a National Youth Administration under the work relief program to assist about 500000 youths aged 16 to 25. The $50 million plan funds private industry apprenticeships, school training, and work relief with a $15 monthly average for work relief youths, $6 for high school students, and $15 for college students, led by Miss Josephine Roach and Aubrey Williams.
City council and county commissioners vote to continue funding local expenses for the District National Re-employment Office in Roswell and urge moving the office from city hall to the armory housing FERA offices. The move would place Roswell headquarters for Chaves, Eddy, and Lea counties amidst federal personnel, with state participation uncertain after July 1.
Sheriff Perry Bean plans to leave this afternoon for official business in the northern part of the state. He expects to be away for three to four days.

The Senate yesterday passed a bill by Senator Hatch authorizing reimbursement to Edward B. Wheeler and the state investment Co. for loss of lands in the Mora Grant New Mexico. The measure was sent to the House today.
Myron Prager secretary of the Eastern New Mexico State Fair Association reports Grant County Chamber of Commerce of Silver City has engaged a booth at the Eastern New Mexico State Fair to be held here October 3 4 5. Grant County is the most distant place from Roswell to have a community booth at the fair.
The Chaves County Bar Association holds its regular quarterly charter meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm at the Nickson Coffee Shop. James A. Hall of Clovis, president of the state bar association board of commissioners, will be guest of honor and principal speaker. The gathering previews the American Bar Association meeting in Los Angeles in July and the New Mexico Bar Association session in Santa Fe August 6 to 10. Mrs Grace McDonald Phillips will preside.
