No results in search for missing tourists in New Mexico

In New Mexico and Nevada today searchers reported no results for four missing Illinois tourists. Governor Clyde Tingley pledged renewed effort, with National Guardsmen in east from Gallup and state police near Springerville Socorro. A 17 year old Nevada boy was released after police could not identify him as the hitchhiker sought.

Mrs Waley reveals story in Weyerhauser kidnaping case

Olympia June 26 AP Mrs Margaret Thuling Waleys own story of the Weyerhaeuser kidnaping says she never saw the nine year old victim and that she is eager to testify at her July 5 Tacoma trial. Her attorney John F Dore says Harmon Waley and Mahan planned the abduction and that she lied on the car floor during the incident.

New Mexico seeks federal funds for state relief costs

New Mexico faces a relief funding gap as direct state relief for unemployables after July 1 may fall short. About 10,000 unemployables require care. current revenue from liquor stamps and a franchise tax yields roughly $500,000, insufficient for $4 per month per person. A July 1 transfer shifts property and staff to a federal managed resettlement and works progress system, with about 36,000 on relief and 10,000 nonworkers remaining for direct aid.

Doupe Captured in Oregon Town Faces Texas Murder Charge

Lubbock county officers plan to bring W. E. Doupe from Roosevelt Beach Oregon to Texas on murder charges stemming from the 1932 Tharp case. If he waives extradition, the sheriff will depart at once. otherwise Gov Allred may be asked to compel return. Doupe was part of a jail escape a year earlier and also linked to Colorado post office robbery and Gunnison burglaries.

Baptists End Six Day Meet in Harmo

Colorado Springs Colorado June 26 AP Delegates to the six day Northern Baptist national convention scattered to their homes in 34 states and several foreign countries buoyed by harmony and overcoming disputed issues including the Christian Social Action Commission report and consolidation of mission activities. At the final session the 1936 convention president Dr J H Franklin was inducted, succeeding Dr Avery A Shaw president of Denison University Granville Ohio.

Death of Harold Jene Cox in Roswell

Harold Jene Cox three died yesterday at age three after a two week illness. He is survived by his parents Claude and Mrs. Cox a sister Evelyn ten and grandmother Mrs N B Cox who were with him. Funeral services were at Ballard Chapel at two o'clock with Rev Julian Atwood of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed at South Park.

Roswell Wins Highway Fight On U S 70 Route

The Roswell Chamber of Commerce announces U S 70 has been officially extended to the west coast via a Roswell supported path. The route now connects Roswell to Los Angeles through Phoenix and other hubs, with completion extending east to Hot Springs Arkansas and beyond. Edinburgh June 26 AP five more anti Catholics fined 10 pounds each for disturbances last night linked to Roman Catholic Eucharistic celebrations. Sheriff warned such behavior dangerous to the public and that repeats would not escape fines. Seven others were fined yesterday for similar offenses.

The Chaves County Bar Association holds its regular quarterly charter meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm at the Nickson Coffee Shop. James A.
