New Mexico leaders push online sales tax changes in 2019

After the Supreme Court ruling, leaders like William Fulginiti of the New Mexico Municipal League plan to seek legislative fixes to require online retailers without physical presence to collect gross receipts taxes from New Mexico consumers. They argue the ruling created unfair competition and that untaxed online purchases cost the state about 200 million dollars annually, with no new tax just applying existing taxes to internet sales.

BLM weighs sale of Chaves County oil and gas leases

U S Bureau of Land Management offices in New Mexico discuss whether to proceed with an online sale of 197 parcels in Chaves Eddy and Lea counties with Roswell and Carlsbad field offices. The sale is planned for Sept 6 and could be the first in Chaves County since 2017. Opposition letters from Wild Earth Guardians and form letters followed a public comment period ending April 20. A separate protest window runs July 23 to August 1.
