Reserve Officers May Apply for CCC Civilian Jobs
Washington June 23 The Civilian Conservation Corps announced reserve officers on duty in CCC camps may apply for reappointment as civilians under the new economy when their terms expire. By Dec 31 the CCC aims to be civilian commanded and about 5 000 reserve officers now serving as physicians chaplains and staff officers will be given preference for civilian pid jobs. Unsuccessful applicants will be replaced by reserve army officers who must also apply as civilians. Director Robert Fechner said the plan will save about 1 000 000 annually and targets youths 17 to 23 and war veterans among the savings.
