Mary Rogers a financial specialist at the Chaves County Courthouse retired after 25 years. She started the courthouse walking breaks 13 to 15 years ago guiding coworkers and friends to join daily laps. Deputy CEO Katie Espinoza notes Rogers kept a precise 2.5 laps per mile and inspired others to stay active.
Roswell advances its drought contingency planning with two years of work by the city task force and a contract with Daniel B Stephens & Associates. The plan, funded by a $200,000 federal grant and a $200,000 local match totaling $400,000, aims to guide city staff on conserving water and responding to drought. City Attorney Hess Yntemna says council approval is not required due to below-threshold cost.
Roswell attorney and former state legislator Greg Nibert discussed his $190000 a year seat on the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission at a Chaves County Federated Republican Women meeting. Gov Grisham appointed him to fill an unexpired term and the Legislature confirmed him to a six year term.
