Brady shot at La Mexicana Bar on South Main Street

Lawrence Brady, bartender at La Mexicana Bar, was shot in the chest shortly after 7 am on a back porch. Police say Brady claimed he shot himself but no motive is found. A .22 pistol lay beside him. bystander Gray heard a shot. Brady, about 46, was taken to St. Marys hospital. X rays planned to check for a broken arm.

William Edgar Johnston longtime Roswell resident died at home on West McGaffey Avenue at 9 30. He was born September 11 1881 in Dodd City Texas and had lived in Roswell since 1909. Man Returns on Forgery Charge in Roswell Case

L. H. Vickers, brought back to Roswell from San Louis Obispo California by Sheriff Frank Young, pled guilty before District Judge James B. McGhee to a forgery charge and awaits sentence. Washington June 20 A diplomatic war of nerves moved the United States toward severing relations with Italy as sources said President Roosevelt would set a deadline for Italian consular officials to depart the United States. The action would be a response to Italy's role in the Axis alliance.

The navy reported that the submarine 0-9, among the oldest, is four hours overdue on a test dive off the Isles of Shoals near where the Squalls sank two years earlier. Chaves County Expenditure Report To Be Discussed Tonight

A survey of Chaves county offices expenditures will be reviewed at a public meeting in the district courtroom at 7 30 tonight. Free aviation training for college men this summer

Five airplanes and a major aviation training organization will offer U S government sponsored flight instruction at Eastern New Mexico State Park for 20 college students. Under Major B S Graham Retired the CAA course targets 19 to 25 year olds who have completed one or two years of college and will enroll this fall.
