Washington officials say a 20 percent cut in wheat and the destruction of 10 million acres of cotton will cost consumers little. A four cent per pound processing tax on raw cotton and a 30 cent per bushel wheat levy are proposed. Tax impacts depend on farmer participation and wind up affecting loaf costs slightly.
Albuquerque June 2 AP Senator Sam G Bratton said the federal emergency works program should greatly help New Mexico and tape will be cut to speed operations He expects machinery in operation by July and notes he will handle duties as circuit court judge in the tenth district with court sessions in Denver Wichita and Oklahoma City

Estancia New Mexico June 20 AP Torrance County schools begin the 1933 34 year with all transportation and maintenance bills for the past school year paid in full by the school authorities.
Hank Woods, proprietor of Riverside Camp forty miles west of Roswell, reported a heavy rain downpour at his place. He could scarcely hear the telephone over the rain on the roof. Rains were reported from Ruidoso to within a few miles of Roswell yesterday afternoon.
The Chaves County Emergency Relief Committee will be dissolved and a new relief board appointed. The decision came at a meeting with officials and interested locals. Miss Maude Kemp explained federal direct relief regulations and county relief issues. Rev. J. G. Anderson, Dexter representative, proposed county action.
Major O L Bodenhamer 40 of El Dorado Arkansas former American Legion commander died after a match lit to light a cigarette ignited gases at an East Texas oil field near Henderson. He was about 150 yards from a well when the blast engulfed him and he died in Shreveport hospital after emergency treatment. His body will be sent to El Dorado for burial.
A heavy rainstorm swept Santa Fe today, flooding streets from curb to curb. An accompanying severe electrical storm disrupted power for hours as weather officials reported about 1.15 inches of rain in 1 hour 5 minutes. Rain continued at noon.
The Navy officially accepts the airship Macon and announces its commissioning on June 23 at Akron Ohio, then moves to Lakehurst New Jersey for immediate deployment. The event marks a milestone in airship development with the Macon slated for early operations.

Denver firemen from across the city fought a large blaze in the Slack Horner Brass Mfg Co building causing at least 10000 dollars in damages. The fire routed hotel guests in night attire and drew hundreds of spectators as it threatened an adjacent block and damaged several nearby structures. Earlier a separate fire had endangered the $50000 organ at St Johns Episcopal Cathedral.
Owen Sherrill, manager of the Regional Crop Production Loan Office, announced emergency feed loans for farmers in 11 Texas and New Mexico counties due to drought. The Spearman office will process applications through July 15, with a $250 limit per farmer.
In Clovis New Mexico on June 20 a near disaster at Farmers Oil Company station was averted when an attendant Elmore Jones shut off the storage tank valve after a hose tangled with a vehicle ignited gasoline from a pump. Fire extinguishers and chemicals suppressed the blaze with no property damage.
Chicago reports Babe Ruth resumed the Yankees lineup for the final game with the White Sox after a day in bed from grip and gasping effects. Ruth said he felt weak and was unsure if he would finish the game. Frank Crosetti and Earl Combs were benched for rest while Lyn Lary at shortstop and Dixie Walker in center field played.
London June 20 AP King George V received Secretary Cordell Hull head of the American delegation to the World Economic Conference at Buckingham Palace this morning. Hull left after about half an hour saying the King seemed very well informal. General economic measures were understood to be discussed as both men seek restoration of normal conditions.
Santa Fe June 20 AP An announcement of what was done by the state penitentiary board at its meeting here was expected today or tomorrow from Gov. Arthur Seligman. He said he had not had time to study the report and until he did know what was in it, he would not make it public. The board is understood to have awarded contracts for machinery and equipment for the road sign and auto license making plant authorized by the last legislature. A number of pardon and parole petitions were considered.
Weather forecast for Roswell and the Pecos valley shows unsettled conditions tonight and Wednesday. In New Mexico expect unsettled weather with likely thunder showers in the north central region and cooler temperatures in the southeast tonight.
Rain showers spread across a broad southwest region with heavy downpours near Roswell and in the mountains. Santa Fe saw over an inch in a short period, while El Paso Las Vegas and areas east of Roswell reported multiple showers. Forecast calls for unsettled weather with scattered showers tonight and Wednesday.
Former U S District Attorney Hugh Woodward announced plans to open a private law office in Albuquerque after being succeeded by W J Barker of Santa Fe. Woodward will move his Clayton, New Mexico practice to the city, while Barker will base his headquarters in Santa Fe.
