Defense secretary doubts broad arms pact at Moscow summit

Defense Secretary James Schlesinger said at a Pentagon news conference there is little chance of a comprehensive U.S. Soviet arms control pact at the Moscow summit. He said a limited agreement to curb missile deployments might be possible and that the meeting could still be successful.

Israeli jets strike Lebanon in reaction to kibbutz attack

Israeli air force jets bombed and strafed Arab guerrilla targets in southeastern Lebanon near Mt Hermon after a kibbutz raid. The assault occurred as President Nixon departed Amman and followed a weekend border incident in which four Arabs crossed from Lebanon and killed three women at Shamir Kibbutz.

Cadet Volunteers Sought for Colombo Film in Roswell

Procedure set for vote recount here

Chaves County Commissioners and Clerk Mrs Bernice Dilley met Fifth Judicial District Judge Paul Snead to outline a ballot recount for District 58 in Roswell. The recount covers Democratic votes from 14 precincts in a June 4 primary. 84 precinct workers will assist at 10 a.m. Thursday, with cost split by county if the outcome changes.

Tornadoes hit Texas area injuring woman near Memphis

A tornado struck near the north edge of Memphis injuring Mrs. James Montgomery of Sentinel and damaging an 18 foot trailer. She survived with one arm severely injured but doctors expect to save it. The storms swept across northeast Texas Panhandle into East Texas with hail and heavy winds.

Sixth K mart opens in Roswell New Mexico

The sixth K mart in New Mexico at South Main and Hobbs Streets prepares for a 9 30 a m grand opening with a ribbon cutting by Roswell officials and Kresge executives. Over 100 local residents will gain full time employment as trucks bring in stock for the 64588 square foot discount store.
