Armed Forces Budget Approved by House Panel
The House Appropriations Committee okayed a 45.2 billion appropriation to fund the armed forces for the next fiscal year starting July 1. It covers 2.653 million uniformed personnel 899 ships 29,571 aircraft and one million reservists plus 2 700 nuclear warheads for strategic forces. The proposal is 2.5 billion under this year’s Defense Department allocation and 60.6 million below the president’s request.

Flood Strikes Centennial Track South of Denver

One Death Reported in Denver Flood Outbreak
Wide floodwaters and tornadic winds struck Denver and surrounding areas causing extensive damage. One man, 69, drowned after returning to his evacuated home while several others were injured. Unconfirmed reports spoke of missing residents in South Platte River bottoms as bridges and power lines failed and tens of millions in losses loomed.
