Roswell EDC to receive larger budget for 2020 21
The Roswell City Council approved a 96 000 operating grant for the Roswell Chaves County Economic Development Corp for 2020 21 with up to 25 000 more for programming plus 150 000 in ROAR loan funds. The move follows a 7 2 vote and marks a rise from 2019 20 funding though county support also fluctuates. Espiritu cited priorities to help existing firms recruit new businesses and grow the workforce while noting past funding levels at four to five years ago.

Centenarian World War II veteran Lowell Hughes dies at 100

Artesia native Alice Palma-Armandariz has lived in Roswell 40 years. A former State Farm worker, Vista Care Hospice admissions coordinator, and promotor at La Casa Family Health Center, she now trains as a census enumerator for the 2020 count. She is a certified enrollment counselor for the NM Health Exchange and a social worker at Presbyterian.
